# ROOTZ for Android
ROOTZ is a personal command center — research, notes, calendar, wardrobe,
and media in one place. This page hosts the official Android releases.
There is no Play Store listing; the app updates itself from here.
## Requirements
- Android 7.0 or newer
- About 100 MB free space (30 MB app + downloads)
- Internet connection (your data syncs with your private server)
## Install / update
1. Open **Releases** (right sidebar) and download the newest
`ROOTZ-vX.X.X.apk` file.
2. Open the downloaded file. Android will ask you to **allow installs
from this source** once — enable it and go back.
3. Tap **Install**, then **Open** and sign in.
Updates work the same way without you visiting this page: the app checks
for new versions on launch and shows an **Update available** popup with
**Update now** and **Skip**. Tapping Update now downloads and installs
in the background — your login and data are kept.
## Verify a download (optional)
Every release lists its SHA-256 checksum. To confirm your file is genuine
and untampered, compare it with any checksum tool before installing.
All releases are signed with the same developer certificate — Android
itself refuses any update signed differently, so a mismatched signature
can never silently replace your app.
## Troubleshooting
- **"App not installed — package conflicts"**: an older copy (often a debug
build, work-profile copy, or second-space clone) is still on the phone.
Uninstall every copy of ROOTZ, then install fresh.
- **Stuck on "Allow from this source"**: enable the toggle, press Back —
the installer continues automatically. If it doesn't, reopen ROOTZ and
tap Update now again.
- **"Download failed"**: check your connection and retry from inside the
app. The download resumes automatically on flaky networks.
- **Login asked again after update**: normal only if your session expired
while updating — sign in once, it stays.
## Privacy
Your notes, papers, calendar, and files live on your own server, not with
any app store. The app requests only the permissions it needs (network,
notifications, biometrics, storage for downloads). Crash and diagnostic
reports are sent only when you tap "Report a problem" in Settings.
## Support
Inside the app: Settings → Report a problem (attaches diagnostics
automatically — mention what you were doing when it broke).
